825 Cavern Road, Townsend, Tennessee 865-448-2274 Estimated to be between 20 and 30 million years old, Tuckaleechee Caverns are known as the “Greatest Site Under the Smokies!” Take a mile-long guided tour of the Caverns. Highlights of the Tuckaleechee Caverns include the 400-foot-long, 150-foot-deep Big Room, which boasts 24-foot-high stalagmites, and the 200-foot-high Silver Falls. A crystal clear stream flows through the Tuckaleechee Caverns, which remain at a chilly 58-degree temperature year round. Tuckaleechee Caverns is open Monday through Friday from 9 AM through 6 PM.
