Cherokee boasts 30 miles of streams that are regularly stocked with brown, brook and rainbow trout. In addition, three trout ponds are located on Big Cove Road. No state license is required but you do need a Tribal Fishing Permit (available at nearly two dozen area businesses). Tribal Fishing Permits cost $7 and are available for one day. Children under 12 are not required to get a Tribal Fishing Permit but an adult with a permit must accompany them. The trout fishing season in Cherokee runs from the last Saturday in March through the end of the following February.
