Located directly North of Pigeon Forge and billed as "Your Hometown in the Smokies," Sevierville has managed to maintain its small-town appeal even though new hotels, music theaters, attractions, family-friendly restaurants and outlet centers are sprouting up everywhere. Founded in 1795, Sevierville (population 11,757) serves as the seat of Sevier County, which also includes Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. Country music legend and entrepreneur Dolly Parton was born in nearby Locust Ridge on January 19, 1946, and Sevier County has graciously erected a statue in her honor on the lawn of the county courthouse in downtown Sevierville.
Sevierville is also a shopper's paradise with specialty shops, factory direct outlet malls, flea markets, mountain crafts and antique stores. Annual events include Sevierville's Smoky Mountain Winterfest, Rose Glen Literary Festival, Smoky Mountain Springfest, Smoky Mountain Thunder Motorcycle & Car Show, Bloomin' Barbeque & Bluegrass Festival, Sevier County Fair, Smoky Mountain Harvest Festival, Great Smoky Mountain Auto Fest, Robert Tino's Smoky Mountain Homecoming, Smoky Mountain Winterfest and Sevierville's Christmas Parade. Visitors to Sevierville can choose from a variety of accommodations, from secluded mountain chalets to moderately priced family motels and hotels.
